# get_job

> Get a job: its status, its question (input_request), its result and any error.

## Arguments

| Argument | Required | Type | Description |
| - | - | - | - |
| `job_id` | Yes | string | |
| `include_result` | No | boolean | false to read the job without its result, which stays for a later read; result\_status says whether one waits. Default true. |
| `wait_seconds` | No | integer, 0 to 1800 | Seconds to wait for the job to ask a question or finish: up to 1800, or 50 when your client accepts only JSON. 0 or absent reads the job at once. |
| `wait_past` | No | string | The id of an input\_request you already gave the user: the wait continues while it is pending, and returns once it is answered, changes or expires, or the job finishes. |

## Output

The [job](/guides/jobs/job-object). While it is live, `next` names the call to make next.

<Accordion title="Details">
  * Pass wait\_seconds to wait until the job asks a question or finishes; if the wait ends first, call again. Each answer's next names the exact call to make next.
  * Never ask for a password in chat. When a job needs a login, a code or an approval, give the user its input\_request's answer\_url and keep waiting here, with wait\_past set to that request's id. Answer other questions with answer\_job.
  * Follow a job until it finishes, and never start the same job again.
  * A result is handed out once; include\_result false reads the job without using it up.
  * Status needs\_input with error credentials\_rejected means the website rejected the saved login. The job waits up to 60 minutes for the user to correct it on the page its next names, then resumes. Don't resubmit it.
  * A finished build names its tool as tool\_id. Run it with run\_website\_tool, or run\_read\_only\_website\_tool when its effect is read.

  **Effect:** Reads only; changes nothing.
